Cookie Notice
1. About this Notice
This Cookie Notice explains how Brief72 (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on brief72.com and in our web apps for creators (creators.brief72.com) and for brands and agencies (brands.brief72.com). Our iOS and Android apps are paused. If they come back, we’ll update this Notice first.
It goes with our Privacy Policy at brief72.com/privacy, which explains who we are and how we handle personal data, including any we collect through cookies.
It’s written to meet the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and the guidance of the Information Commission (which took over from the Information Commissioner’s Office, the ICO, on 30 September 2026) on cookies and similar technologies.
2. What Are Cookies & Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser, so it can recognise your browser or remember something about your visit. Similar technologies do the same kind of job: for example, browser storage (local storage and session storage), which a website can use to save information on your device, and tracking pixels, which can tell a sender when an email is opened. In this Notice, “cookies” covers all of them.
The law says a website may only store or read information on your device if you agree, unless it’s strictly necessary for a service you’ve asked for, or another exception applies, such as remembering a choice you’ve made about how a site works. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser; others last for a set time or until you delete them.
3. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for these purposes only:
3.1 Strictly necessary
These make our sites work. They remember your cookie choice, keep you signed in to our web apps, and help protect our sites from bots. They don’t need your consent. You can block them in your browser, but then our sites may not work properly: for example, you won’t stay signed in.
3.2 Analytics, only with your consent
On brief72.com, if you click Accept, Google Analytics cookies tell us how many people visit, which pages they look at and how they found us, so we can improve the site. We only set them after you click Accept, and we’ve set Google Analytics so that nothing is stored or shared for advertising. Our web apps don’t use analytics.
3.3 Remembering a choice you’ve made
The creator app remembers that you’ve closed its “add to home screen” tip, so it doesn’t show it again. The law allows this without asking first, because it only changes how the app works for you. If you’d rather it didn’t, clear your browser’s data for creators.brief72.com, and the tip will come back.
We don’t use advertising or social media cookies or pixels, and we don’t use cookies to follow you across other websites. Invite codes from referral links aren’t stored on your device.
4. Cookies We Use
This table lists every cookie and similar technology our sites use. If we add or change one, we’ll update this Notice first.
| Name | Set by | Where | What it’s for | How long | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| b72_consent (cookie) | Brief72 | brief72.com | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, and when. | 12 months | No (strictly necessary) |
| _ga (cookie) | Google Analytics | brief72.com | Tells visits apart, so we can count visitors and see how the site is used. | 13 months from your last visit | Yes: only set if you click Accept |
| _ga_<ID> (cookie; <ID> is our Google Analytics code) | Google Analytics | brief72.com | Keeps track of your current visit for Google Analytics. | 13 months from your last visit | Yes: only set if you click Accept |
| b72_access and b72_refresh (browser storage) | Brief72 | creators.brief72.com and brands.brief72.com | Keep you signed in. | Until you sign out. Your sign-in ends after 30 days without use. | No (strictly necessary) |
| b72_home_screen_hint (browser storage) | Brief72 | creators.brief72.com | Remembers that you closed the “add to home screen” tip. | Until you clear your browser’s data for the site | No (it remembers a choice you made; see 3.3) |
| cf_clearance (cookie), only if you’re asked to prove you’re not a bot | Cloudflare, our security network | Any of our sites | Remembers that you passed a security check, so you aren’t asked again straight away. | Usually 30 minutes | No (strictly necessary) |
Fonts. brief72.com and our web apps use fonts stored on our own servers, so loading them doesn’t involve anyone else.
Emails. Our marketing emails don’t contain tracking pixels or tracked links, so we don’t know whether you open them or which links you click.
5. Third Parties
Two other companies are involved in the cookies and similar technologies on our sites. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google, for Google Analytics on brief72.com, only if you click Accept (it’s loaded through Google’s tag script from googletagmanager.com; policies.google.com/privacy);
- Cloudflare, our security network, which may set the cf_clearance cookie (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).
You can control Google Analytics with our cookie banner (clause 7), and other cookies through your browser’s settings.
6. Our Mobile Apps
Our iOS and Android apps are paused. If they come back, we’ll update this Notice first, to explain what they store on your phone.
7. How Consent Works, and How to Change Your Choice
- Our cookie banner: when you first visit brief72.com, a banner asks whether you’ll accept Google Analytics cookies. Accept and Reject look the same and are just as easy to use, and rejecting doesn’t change how the site works. Until you choose, we don’t set any analytics cookies.
- What we remember: we save your choice in the b72_consent cookie for 12 months. After that, or if you delete it, we ask again.
- Changing your mind: click “Cookie Settings” at the bottom of our pages on brief72.com to see your current choice and change it. If you reject after accepting, we switch Google Analytics off straight away and delete its cookies.
- Our web apps: they don’t use any cookies that need consent, so they don’t show a banner.
- Your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and browser storage, or browse privately. If you block the strictly necessary ones, our sites may not work properly.
Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it, and it doesn’t affect anything that happened before.
8. Changes to This Notice
We’ll update this Notice when we add, remove or change cookies, or when the law or the Information Commission’s guidance changes, and we’ll change the version number and date at the top. If we want to start using a cookie that needs your consent, we’ll ask you through our cookie banner first.
